It depends on the compound. Are you dosing someone with potassium chloride so the being won't lose potassium while on a diuretic for high blood pressure? Atomic weights: K = 39 Cl = 35.5 MW of KCl = 44.5. So: 44.5mg within 1 Meq.
The two are not interchangeable like that.
It's not similar to there's always 5ml contained by a teaspoon
or 1000mg in a gram.
