SurgicalHow long is Obstetrics/Gynecology Medical Residency?
From your question it sounds approaching you are not already in medical university (if you are you should really be talking to your dean!!)
so here is how it go in the US, (it is deeply different in Europe)
after you graduate elevated school you enjoy to get a Bachelor's level (usually 4 years)
then you turn to medical school for 4 more years
after residency depending on the field:
OB/GYN: 4 years
Family Medicine: 3 years
Internal Medicine: 3 years
Pediatrics: 3 years
Anesthesiology: 4 years (1 year internship + 3 years)
Psychiatry: 4 years
General Surgery: 5 years
-there are also some surgical field which are separate like Orthopedic Surgery (5 years), Neurosurgery (6-7 years)
Lot of these field have sub-specialties (fellowship) that you can do afterwards usually 1 or 2 years.
Good luck
I can answer section of your question for single one place.
My daughter-in-law became an OB/GYN doc. She have 1 year internship (Freshman) and 3 years residency. This allowed them to cover the greatest majority of subjects. She was resourcefully prepared when she graduated.
At another hospital, a Family Practice residency is 3 years. Family Practice doctors are needed, because too tons physicians are specializing, and there are extremely few doctors now competent to direct your health caution from a whole body frame of mind.
Whatever you choose, you should savour it; you will spend many hours practicing your craft, and you must resembling it.
Good Luck. Lenore Hodges, PhD, RD
